Mekong Tourism Forum 2023
The Mekong Tourism Forum 2023 is hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Kingdom of Cambodia,
under the theme “Rethinking for Resilience and Digitalization.”
What to expect at MTF 2023:
- An inspirational keynote on rethinking the future of tourism to ensure inclusive growth. Topics will cover key issues and opportunities, concepts, strategies and recommendations for building back tourism better and stronger, with a significant focus on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Mekong region.
- A deep dive into building sustainable food system as a fundamental element of travel experiences and tourism resilience, as well as how to leverage technologies and innovations to transform the food system.
- Three insightful panel discussions led by regional experts focused on:
- Building a smart tourism ecosystem to transform destination management, enhance competitiveness, and elevate the digital economy for tourism businesses;
- Empowering women in the tourism workforce to have more participation in leadership and management, better social protection, and equal benefit distribution, contributing to greater gender equality in the region;
- Advancing human capital as the core value of the tourism sector by addressing current workforce and skill shortages and proposing reskilling/upskilling strategies to build a more resilient sector.
- A diverse tourism exhibition from Cambodia and other GMS nations promoting responsible tourism products and sustainable food consumption that generates positive impact on the environment and community.
- A photo exhibition of the Mekong’s Hidden Gems, featuring the lesser-known, yet charming destinations of the region.
- Networking opportunities to reconnect face-to-face with tourism stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
- Immerse in the rich nature and culture of Sihanoukville and explore its holistic approach to sustainable development over the years.
