It will be organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, in collaboration with affiliated associations, said the Myanmar Tourism Federation chairperson. The National Tourism Development Central Committee Meeting 1/2026 was held at the Jade Hall of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism in Nay Pyi Taw on 9 July, with the presence of private sector tourism experts, the President of the Myanmar Tourism Federation, and chairs of relevant associations.
Vice-President Nan Ni Ni Aye, Chair of the central committee, emphasized the need to revive Myanmar’s tourism industry like other countries and to mirror a successful global model by establishing strong Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) during the meeting. She also emphasized the importance of developing practical, actionable plans tailored to each region and state by promoting Myanmar’s unique culture, natural scenic beauty, and historical heritage.
The Vice-President also addressed facilitating travel for tourists by easing visa procedures, ensuring safe travel, expanding flight routes, and simplifying insurance purchase processes through public-private collaboration. She encouraged private entrepreneurs to create a regionally competitive destination and to exert concerted efforts to increase international awareness of Myanmar’s true situation.
The president of the Myanmar Tourism Federation submitted a request for the establishment of the Tourism Board of Myanmar (TBM), which is a public-private partnership body to ensure effective collaboration in tourism promotion. He also stated that the federation, together with its affiliated associations, will work to practically implement the central committee’s directives and meeting resolutions for national tourism development
