Myanmar strengthens destination management for sustainable tourism development

A workshop on strengthening Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) for sustainable tourism development was recently held in Nay Pyi Taw, with support from the ASEAN-Japan Centre. The two-day programme focused on improving destination management, enhancing visitor safety and service quality, and sharing international best practices to support long-term tourism growth. With over 200 DMOs established nationwide, the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen local destination governance and promote sustainable tourism development in Myanmar through regional cooperation and knowledge exchange.
