The World Bank has recently released a new publication highlighting tourism’s growing role as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and the protection of cultural and environmental assets across low- and middle-income countries. Drawing on over a decade of research and operational experience—covering more than US$10 billion in investments across 80 countries—the report provides valuable insights into what makes tourism development projects successful. It also identifies key research gaps and offers practical recommendations to strengthen future tourism initiatives, ensuring the sector continues to support sustainable and inclusive development.
