Zalun Pyi Taw Pyan Pagoda Festival, Myanmar

Zalun Pyi Taw Pyan pagoda festival is held in a small town named Zalun near the Ayeyarwaddy River to commemorate the statue that returned from abroad. This festival dates back to the time when Myanmar was under the British Colonials: the Buddha image was once taken to England and its bronze material was intended to be melted for other purposes. However, the Queen suffered from sickness and ordered the image to be returned. The locals have since celebrated the return of the Buddha image. Tourists flock this place to see the famous Buddha that was once brought all the way to England and at the same time witness how locals gather and celebrate this joyous occasion. The statue is also famous for being indestructible when the British soldiers tried to melt and break the bronze. It has remained intact until this day.

Highlights: The Buddha is celebrated for its return from England. It is rumored to be unbreakable despite several attempts of destructing the image.
