The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) have expressed their satisfaction with the progress of their relations and cooperation, which have been strengthened and expanded in all fields, especially after being elevated to the “comprehensive and long-term strategic partnership” in 2019.
The remarks were highlighted by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone during their bilateral meeting in Vientiane yesterday, on the sidelines of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.
Siphandone extended a warm welcome to the Cambodian Premier and his high-level delegation, and praised Cambodia for her achievements, especially in improving the people’s living standard and enhancing Cambodia’s prestige on the regional and international stage.
For his part, Mr Hun Manet thanked the Lao side for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for the Lao PDR’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2024.
The two leaders also discussed the strengthening and expansion of bilateral cooperation in many potential areas, including politics, defence and security, trade and investment, tourism, finance, energy, education, and infrastructure connecting the two neighbouring countries.
