Since the water in Taungthaman Lake is full, sightseeing boat trips have resumed from 25 June, according to the Taungthaman Boat Association.
Water from the Ayeyawady River has begun to flow into Taungthaman Lake, and as the water level has risen, boat owners in the association are resuming boating services.
Taungthaman Lake in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, offers recreational boating services with around 50 boats each year, and the boating fee ranges from K5,000 to K15,000 or more, depending on the type of trip.
Following a nearly six-year closure triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, U Bein Bridge and Taungthaman Lake officially reopened to visitors on 2 February 2026. Connected to the Ayeyawady River, Taungthaman Lake frequently floods at the start of the monsoon season in mid-June, with rising waters often reaching the floorboards of U Bein Bridge.
