Over 1,000 take part in ‘Kep the Paradise’ campaign

Kep provincial authorities on Tuesday launched “Kep the Paradise” campaign aimed to improve the city’s environment and promote tourism.

Over 1,000 people took part in a rally held in Kep city on Monday as they handed the slogan to the public to inspire them to keep the province clean all the time.

Kep provincial governor Som Piseth said that Kep is an ideal destination for retirees as well as tourists because the province is safe, serene, peaceful and calm.

“We want the people to understand that communities also have a responsibility to keep the city clean and fresh,” said Piseth.

He added that authorities want to raise awareness among the people, from children to adults, in maintaining fresh and clean environment which is key to attracting tourists across the province.“If tourists come, it will bring income to the local people.” Along with the dissemination of the campaign slogan “Kep the Paradise” among the public, authorities concerned will also strive to make the slogan come true and gain trust among tourists.

“We want visitors not to be worried about security and they should feel relaxed and enjoy the fresh air throughout the province. Authorities are also cooperating with private sectors to improve the infrastructure,” Piseth added.

Kep provincial department of tourism director Som Chenda said yesterday that he hopes the slogan “Kep the Paradise” will be in every one’s mind and they join hand with authorities to see their province becoming a paradise for tourists and generations to come.

Kep receives around 800 to 1,000 visitors on week days and around 3,000 to 10,000 visitors during the weekend, which is a 100% increase compared to the  COVID-19 pandemic period.
