Kaquewa Festival of Dulong People, China
January 10, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Dulong people are a native indigenous community living by Nujiang River, whose women once were known for their facial tattoos. One great chance to learn more about their intriguing customs is the Kaquewa Festival (Kaquewajie, date varies by village). When villagers, supervised by a shaman wrapped in a handmade blanket, will make sacrifice to the Mountain God by dancing around a bull. Dulong families will also gather up in their unique costume to welcome the approaching spring with drinking and entertainment.
