Folk Duet Festival at Luoping, Yunnan, China

In March, Luoping is blanketed in yellow rapeseed flowers, and on the 2nd day of the 2nd lunar month, Jiulong Waterfalls (Jiulong Pubuqun) hosts its Folk Duet Festival (Duigejie). Local Buyi people don their national attire and hold a big duet singing game where singers hunt for their perfect duet partner and, once matched up, play a game of ‘touching eggs’ (exactly what it sounds like to formalise their bond.
