The Yangon International Airport on Sunday launched a digital-concierge system aimed at helping travellers in the country’s premier airport, a senior official said.
The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism also launched a QR code project that provides information on the latest promotions found at the ministry’s website.
Union Minister U Ohn Maung and Yangon Region Hotels and Tourism Minister Daw Naw Pan Thinzar Myo cut a ceremonial ribbon to launch the system, and the officials observed as tourists began using the QR code and the digital concierge system.
The digital concierge or virtual concierge is a type of customer experience (CX) technology that provides guests with conversational and contextual assistance. The system is used in conjunction with mobile devices.
“The QR code provides supporting information for travel advisories and promotions for the ministry’s website,” an officer of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism said. “We are going to add other related information for travellers later on.’’
The QR Code is focused on promoting tourism in Myanmar with the use of digital technology through cooperation between the state and the private sector, synchronising with e-government systems and services of the ministry.
