Vang Vieng, Lao PDR

Weekly featured member of the Experience Mekong Collection: Tamarind Cafe – Luang Prabang, Lao PDR.

Tamarind, located at the end of the Luang Prabang “peninsula” by Wat Nong in the old quarter specializes in very authentic Laotian food. It is run by an Australian woman and her local partner and has excellent a la carte lunches and sample platters allowing you to get a diverse taste of real local food. The cafe’s philosophy is to use only the freshest, local and organic ingredients from the local suppliers and to provide a place where visitors can traditionally and locally sample and learn about the special flavours and foods that comprise Lao cuisine.
