Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to be renamed as of July 2023

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism will replace the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to govern all tourism services and activities in the country as of July 1, 2023.

Since late 2021 the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has launched the communication campaign Live Fully in Vietnam to promote post-pandemic tourism recovery.

A decision to this effect was recently signed by Nguyen Van Hung, minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Vietnam.

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism is an administrative body under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It is tasked with giving advice, assisting the Minister in state management of tourism, enforcing tourism – related legislation, and managing public services on tourism according to the law.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism was established in 1978 under the Ministers Council.

It was merged into the Ministry of Trade and Tourism in 1991, and was separated into the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism under the Government a year later.

It was then emerged into the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2007.

In 2022 the national tourism sector served 101 million local holidaymakers and 3.6 million foreign travelers, earning VND495 trillion, up 23% from the set target. Its contribution to national GDP rose gradually from 6.3% in 2015 to 7.9% in 2017 and 9.2% in 2019.
