Vietjet to connect Ho Chi Minh City to Chiang Mai and Phuket

VietJet Air in winter 2017/18 season expands service to Thailand, with services starting to two new destinations: Chiang Mai and Phuket. The Vietnamese low cost carrier will then launch two new nonstop-service from Ho Chi Minh City to both Thai destinations.

First flights commencing in December 2017. Chiang Mai services will start on December 12 with four weekly services while the new Phuket route will start on December 15, also with four weekly services. The low cost carrier operates six routes between Thailand and Vietnam. Out of Bangkok, Vietjet flies already to Haiphong, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Bookings are available since October 26. Aircraft is an Airbus A320.

In parallel to its expansion in Thailand, Vietjet is also launching a new route between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh in Cambodia. First flight is scheduled on November 24, operating on daily basis also with an Airbus A320 aircraft. From December 6, the airline will also launch five weekly services between Cam Ranh/Nha Trang and Seoul Incheon.

In another development, Vietjet also signed a comprehensive air agreement with Gulf carrier Qatar Airways. The interline partnership will extend Qatar Airways’ network to an additional eight cities in the fast-growing Vietnam market. he codeshare deal with Vietjet covers the cities of Da Nang (DAD), Ban Me Thuot (BMV), Dalat (DLI), Hai Phong (HPH), Nha Trang (CXR), Phu Quoc (PQC), Pleiku (PXU), Vinh City (VII) as well as Taipei (TPE). Flights will connect to both Qatar Airways routes from Doha to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
