TAT proceeds with Thailand Travel Shield insurance project

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced it will continue the five-year ‘Thailand Travel Shield’ project in order to provide online travel insurance for foreign tourists at a press conference held in Bangkok on April 2. At the event, TAT signed an MoU with three insurance companies – Southeast Insurance, Muang Thai Insurance and Krungthai Panich Insurance.

Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor, TAT, said that TAT had initiated the Thailand Travel Shield project as an alternative insurance scheme in July 2014. It is created in partnerships with reputable and publicly-listed insurance companies in Thailand.

‘This year marks the fifth anniversary of our travel insurance initiative to ensure that travellers enjoy the utmost travel experience during their visit to Thailand. The project forms part of a concerted effort by the Thai government, our team at TAT, relevant authorities and the private sector to ensure the safety and security of both tourists and residents,’ Yuthasak added.
Travellers planning a trip to Thailand can continue to buy the insurance coverage online at http://thailandtravelshield.tourismthailand.org/.

The platform is available in both English and Chinese. It also allows several payment methods including credit card, debit card, Union Pay and AliPay, with the insurance policy being sent instantly to the insured via email.
