China was Myanmar’s second most important tourism source market last year. About 500,000 Chinese tourists visited in 2016; significantly lower than the more than 800,000 who visited in 2015.

Chinese tourists mainly visited Myanmar from Muse, Laukai, Chin Shwe Haw, Lweji, Kanpiketi and Mongla. Most of them used the Muse border gate.
