Following publication of the Compendium of Good Practices in Indigenous Tourism – Regional Focus on the Americas in 2023, UN Tourism and WINTA have partnered again to produce a new piece of research, this time focusing on Asia and the Pacific. The publication features 14 case studies from indigenous and non-indigenous organizations, communities, and public and private entities from across the region. It explores the role of intercultural dialogue in shaping indigenous tourism policies and highlights how tourism can be leveraged as a tool for cultural and natural preservation, knowledge transmission and economic empowerment through entrepreneurship led by indigenous communities. The publication also offers a set of recommendations for public administrations and destinations to enable a sustainable and equitable indigenous tourism development.
