The country is currently getting ready to launch the Visit Laos Year 2024 campaign to attract more visitors and boost its tourism sector.
A discussion regarding the execution of the Visit Laos Year 2024 campaign was organized between officials from the Tourism Marketing Department, Tourism Development Department, and private stakeholders from the tourism industry.
The director of the Tourism Development Department, Ms. Phonemaly Inthaphome, said that the tourism vision from 2021-2025 has six main targets, which include improving the standard of tourism personnel, infrastructure, and tourist sites.
“It is necessary to improve tourist attractions and products as well as services, to ensure better quality and ensure services are sustainable,” she added.
At the meeting, RDK Group, a media and marketing agency, presented various marketing and advertising strategies to improve tourism marketing in Laos, including online marketing and collaboration with social media influencers.
The government of Laos first organized the Visit Laos Year in 1999, followed by 2000, 2012, and 2018, according to Tourism Marketing Department.
Next year is quite important for Laos as it would be hosting the 2024 ASEAN Tourism Forum and the ASEAN Summit which will see a lot more people visiting the country. This is why a robust marketing campaign is being put in place to promote the country to foreign travelers.
Until April, Laos reported over 1 million international tourists and is fast moving towards crossing over the annual target of 1.3 million in the next few months.
