Worship Gathering in the Three Temples, Yunnan, China

The Bai people of Dali have been celebrating the “Worship Gathering in the Three Temples” for centuries. This carnival, also known as Guanshanglan, takes place annually from the 23rd to 25th day of the fourth lunar month. Originally a religious ceremony, it has become a time for the Bai people to entertain themselves during the farming slack season and welcome the arrival of immortals from heaven. The festival involves three temples: Chongsheng Temple, Shengyuan Temple, and Jinkui Temple.
