Tay Son Festival, Viet Nam

From the fourth to the fifth day of the first lunar month every year, a martial arts festival takes place in Bin Dinh Province to commemorate the 1773 Tay Son uprising, where the Nguyen brothers led a farmer’s revolution that united north and of the nation for the first time, and defeated over 29,000 Qing invaders. For three days, martial arts devotees show their fighting abilities in exhibitions on Quy Nhon’s central square, with food fairs, native folk games, and Vietnamese opera taking place on the sidelines.
