Usually held at the celebrated spa town of Wenquan, Anning, Kunming, the annual Kunming Tennis Open (Kunming Wangqiu Gongkaisai) poses a challenge unexpected of its Asian tournament status due to the city’s over-1800m elevation- a big obstacle for a highly aerobic sport.

And being one of the few clay court events in China, it attracts many top-class domestic players and upcoming international stars who consider it a perfect warmup for the French Open. Those hot springs around are just an extra bonus.
