Gedong Festival at Ganden Sumtseling Gompa, China, Yunnan

The annual Gedong Festival (1 & Th; Gedongjie, 26th to 29th day of the 11th month in the Tibetan calendar), held at Ganden Sumtseling Gompa (I •** * *; Gadan Songzanlin Si), is a Tibetan Buddhist prayer festival during which participants pray for happiness in the coming year. Visitors are allowed into the monastery to witness chanting and watch the Cham, a lively mask-dance.
