Amnat Charoen Boat Racing, Thailand

Every November, participants from different riverside communities–Don Tan District, Mukdahan Province; Khemmarat District, Ubon Ratchathani Province; Amphoe Chanuman, Amnat Charoen Province; and various communities from Lao PDR on the opposite bank of the Mekong– build inter-community ties by competing on a boat race. The competitors race on the waters across from the Mekong River Pier in front of the Chanuman District Office in Amphoe Chanuman. Competitions are held in the morning and afternoon; the district office hols merchandise sales and entertainment events after dark. (Tourism Authority of Thailand)
