Apsara Authority issues notice on taking photos or videos at temples in Angkor Resort

APSARA National Authority has issued a notice to national and international tourists that APSARA Authority does not have any ban on taking photos or videos for personal memorabilia or tourism to promote art and culture. Still, for business advertisements, a permit is required.

The APSARA Authority issued a press release on the evening of September 26 to clarify some of the tourists’ doubts aboutphotography in Angkor Wat.

A statement from the APSARA Authority states that to avoid unintentional mistakes arising from the publication and possibly affecting the value of the priceless ancient temples of the Khmer ancestors and as a World Heritage Site, tourist national and international applications must be submitted to the APSARA Authority so that the technical staff can check in advance some technical aspects such as promotional content and equipment.

For the recording, the APSARA Authority requires the request to be:

1: For taking pictures, filming, or video for advertising products or creating businesses.

2: The business of taking pictures of traditional clothes (pre-wedding photography) The APSARA Authority stated that the reason for requesting in advance is for the APSARA Authority to check the suitability of traditional costumes. There is no charge for such recordings. Live video recording by a tour company or tour guide licensed by the Ministry of Tourism to advertise temples online to their clients, and all such advertisements are free of charge.

3: All requests for photography or video advertising products or establishing businesses, national and international tourists, and the general public must contact the service centre of APSARA Authority every working hour, and APSARA Authority will reply to the applicant within five (5) working days at the latest. Kampuchea Thmey
