MTCO Joins Mekong Institute’s Consultation on Strengthening Capacity Development

On July 1, 2022, Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office (MTCO)’s Executive Director, Suvimol Thanasarakij, participated in the Development Partners’ Consultation Meeting 2022 under the theme “Strengthening Capacity Development for a Robust GMS towards Post COVID-19 Recovery” organized by Mekong Institute.

The meeting brought together major stakeholders from across the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), with the goal of providing an overview of capacity development for regional cooperation and integration in the GMS.

Through several panels, the meeting initiated an open dialogue among regional and national stakeholders, particularly the Development Partners, to converge the various COVID-19 recovery implementation plans and support mechanisms while complementing the different regional and global frameworks.

The participants shared experiences and explored approaches for a more effective Development Partners engagement and cooperation in capacity development, particularly on post-COVID-19 recovery in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

The Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office, as a development partner, proposed capacity development projects to foster sustainable, inclusive and resilient tourism in the region.

The event was held at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, and was attended by embassies in Bangkok, development aid agencies, government agencies, international organizations and national coordination agencies.
