2019 Travel Startups Asia Forum at ITB Asia

Three travel startup companies named winners of the recent Mekong Innovative Startups in Tourism (MIST) 2019 will make presentations this Friday at ITB Asia.

Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office has partnered with Messe Berlin to organise the Travel Startups Asia Forum @ ITB Asia 18 October at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The event is free to attend for all registered delegates at  ITB Asia.

The Travel Startups Asia Forum at ITB Asia will feature the MIST 2019 winner and runner up in the Travel Tech Category, Golf Digg from Thailand and Loca from Laos respectively, as well successful online travel agency startup FlyMya from Myanmar.

MIST, managed by the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office and supported by the Australian Government and Asian Development Bank. was set up three years ago to support travel startups in the six countries of the Greater Mekong Sub-region ( Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam).

Over the last three years, it has short-listed the travel startup nominees for an annual competition that names three winners who gain access to industry mentors, attend the ITB Asia and are lined up with potential investment channels.

Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office executive director Jens Thraenhart said: “By partnering with ITB Asia, we are able to give exposure to our successful Mekong innovative startups in tourism to develop sustainable tourism in the Mekong Region.”

The Travel Startups Asia Forum will also discuss the state of travel startups in Asia, as well Travel Startup Ecosystems MIST (Mekong Innovative Startups in Tourism) and Travel Lab Asia, a partnership between the Asian Development Bank, Pacific Asia Travel Association, and Plug and Play.
