The Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) has stated that one of its main tasks for the 2012-16 period is to improve the training method used for the industry’s employees.
The association plans to ask the relevant authorities to establish a Tourism Knowledge Fostering School in the next five years to train staff and managers in the tourism sector, as the government has invested plenty of time and money in developing the country’s tourism industry, according to Viet Nam News.
The association will also collaborate with universities and other learning institutions to offer short-term courses, and organize training classes for staff of local tourism association members.
VITA’s Viet Nam Society of Travel Agents is collaborating with the European Excellence in Management Education to launch an MBA Tourism Program targeting tourism industry managers and anyone interested in a career in tourism.
The program aims to improve managers’ qualifications in mostly small- and medium-sized tourism enterprises, and VITA hopes to professionally train 80 per cent of tourism company leaders.
“The association will sign cooperation agreements with tourism associations in ASEAN countries to seek support in training and developing human resources for the tourism sector,” said VITA Deputy Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho.
